This thesis mainly deals with the developing process of the Remote Terminal Power Measurement System Based on GPRS Network Environment and an Embedded System, according to the quick development of automatic reading meter technology, GPRS technology and embedded system technology in recent years. The system has advantage of execution efficiency, software cubage, response speed and communication expense. The system defines a set of protocol named as Power Remote Measurement System Protocol. This self-defined protocol is the standard communication method between a center station, a PDA and a terminal. Thus it reduces the conflict of three independent parts of the system.Firstly, the thesis discusses the background of remote terminal power measurement system in chapter one. The development situation of embedded system and GPRS wireless network is also given. On account of an efficient and customized development environment required by an embedded system project, the thesis introduces popular embedded systems in chapter two. It emphasizes the operation systemes and their appropriate application fields. At the end it introduces some software programming technologies. In chapter three, the thesis makes a detailed statement of the system requirements. Then it gives the architecture of the system. Then the thesis illustrates its hardware design. Then, in chapter four, the main part of the thesis is devoted to the detailed design of the software in the terminal. At first, it analyzes the requirement of a terminal. Then, under the direction of the analysis, the function of a terminal is divided into four parts. They are the periodic task, the task arose from a center station, the task arose from a PDA, and the interruption task. To support these tasks, the thesis discusses the design of the GPRS communication module, the RS485 communication module, the IrD communication module, the tinier module and the FLASH module. At the last the thesis completes the four tasks in detail. In chapter six, it comes to a conclusion of the research and the prospect of further work.
