With the designing and building of Yichang Yangtse River Highway Bridge, a single-span suspension bridge with main span of 960m, some technical problems such as the layout of structural system of the suspension bridge, the type of cross section of stiffening steel box girder, the structural system of the anchor and the cracking-resistant techniques of the bulky concrete anchor have been studied in the present thesis. Some valuable conclusions have been achieved that provided a substantial support for the successful completion of the bridge.The thesis contains five chapters. In the first chapter, introduction, the development and application of suspension bridge at home and abroad have been summarized briefly, on the base of the summarization and the requirement on the design and construction in Yichang Yangtse river highway bridge, The research contents transacted in present thesis have been put forward. In the second chapter, the design and construction of long span suspension bridge, according to the practice on the Yichang Yangtse river highway bridge, the new methods and techniques applied to the design and construction of the bridge have been presented. In the third chapter, study on the rational cross section of steel stiffening box girder for the suspension bridge, through the fully comparative study with the ordinary hexagon streamlined steel stiffening box girder widely used in the present suspension bridges at home and abroad and taking the reality in the bridge into account, a updated streamlined steel stiffening box girder with fim has been developed and applied to the bridge successfully. In the fourth chapter, study on the structural system and cracking-resistant in bulky concrete of the anchor, combined with the designing and building practice of the anchor in Yichang Yangtse river highway bridge, a optimized gravitational concrete anchor and a systemic measures for the cracking-resistant for the construction of the bulky concrete in the anchor have been developed and adopted in the bridge efficiently which demonstrates the anchor type and the measures are feasible and practical. In the last chapter, conclusions, the primary research results and corresponding conclusions have been listed.
