The thesis examines mainly crane's parametric design system based on object-oriented technology.On the basis of further study of object-oriented technology, parametric technology and database access technology, this paper has completed the design and development of crane's parametric design and computing system based on object-oriented technology. Parametrization of design process is realized by adopting object-oriented method, the main function of this system is to manage the designing parameters submitted, design, computation, analysis and select of mechanism are finished, simultaneously, the result of design is autosaved and document of design is exported.According to the function of system, this system takes overhead crane as an example, overhead crane class is abstracted to demonstrate corresponding object by adopting object-oriented method, design and computing program is to analyse, compute, query and select crane's component, database is established to store data of standard parts and components in common use of crane's design manual.The essential information of crane and essential operation on the information are encapsulated in the overhead crane class. Object-oriented programming method is adopted to exploit this system by using Visual C++ at Windows platform, by making good use of the four leading characteristic of object. Especially, the using of class and inheritance makes the structure reasonable. Database is established by SQL Server technology, which is adapt to object-oriented technology and can be successfully accessed. On the platform of AutoCAD2000, some parametric drawing of standard parts and components are done by integrating VC++ with ObjectARX2000. Finally, these drawings of standard parts are assembled into a complete graph, and parametric design system of overhead crane is realized.The ideas of object-oriented technology and parametric design computation are combined to construct this parametric design system of overhead crane based on object-oriented technology. The corresponding technology are fully used to design and compute partial mechanism of overhead crane. This system makes the deviser's design convenient and design period is shortened, and in the meantime work efficiency is improved.
