AbstractR.C. frame structure is not only a major structure form of the buildings which have built in our country, and also a good developed prospect in the future structures. So it has an important practical significance in improving the economic results to optimize this kind structure. In this paper, finite element analysis method which is very accrate is used to analysis the R. C. frames and write a fortran Program on the basis of studying the traditional structure optimal methods, so assure the optimal basic data is objective and accurate. A new intellectual optimal method, improved genetic algorithms is introduced to study how to solve a series of problems for the frame structure for the first time. In the paper, the math models are built up according that the smallest cost of the beams, columns and foundations is the object. The selection, crossover mutation algorithm of genetic algorithm and parameter coded by binary genes are designed. On the basis of it, the structure optimal programs (GAKJL.C GAKJZ.C and GAKJJC.C) are wrote in C and appled the programs to a example. The results are compared with the system fuzzy optimal method, the generalized optinality criterion and the full force optimal method. From the results, it is shown that it is successful to applied the genetic algorithm to optimize the R.C frame. The method has good weakness and stability for shelving the discrete combitional optimal problem only if the genetic algorithm is designed rationally. The optimal method is put forward is not only effective in designing R.C frame, and also helpful in designing other structure forms rationally.
