The first chapter of this dissertation mainly describes the development history and current situation of domestic high voltage substation and extra-high voltage (EHV) substation monitoring and control system. With the progress of technology and the requirement of local, the essential functions of high voltage substation and the EHV monitoring and control system is proposed in order to meet the requirements of industry.Based on the fundamental functions, chapter two and chapter three give details about system demand analysis, principles and criterions of system design, key technology of system function implementation, software/hardware design for the monitoring and control system, and design/function of sub modules such as data communication and human-machine interface.Based on the system engineering projects, chapter four introduces the actual applications and usages for the EHV monitoring and control system. The substation automation system based on the model proposed in this dissertation is running successfully. Its sub-systems are flexible and easy to maintain, so it not only meets the needs of users from each level, but also covers requirements of non-system multiple station users.
