High-speed train will become an inevitable trend,which has harsher requirement of reliability,security,reality and less cost. It has broad prospects and great significance to vigorously develop the train communication network technology and develop advanced equipments of train communication network .Train communication network (TCN) consists of the Wired train bus (WTB) which is used for connecting dynamically reorganizable vehicles and the Multifunction vehicle bus (MVB) which is used for connecting fixed devices in a vehicle. MVB is the most advanced controlling bus in trains with fixed devices. Multifunction vehicle bus controller (MVBC), independent of the physical layer and functional equipment, is the core processor on MVB, which provides the communication interface and services for each device on the bus. MVBC is a core technology of MVB,which has been monopolized by foreign.It has seriously hindered the promotion of MVB technology in the domestic locomotive. Therefore,it has far-reaching significance to research TCN protocols and MVB technology and develop own MVBC.This paper introduces the basic principles of MVB in brief,then it analyses MVB Real Time Protocol(RTP) and the function of class 2 MVBC and discusses design methodology of every module of class 2 MVBC.At last it program every module and shows the simulation waveforms.This design for class 2 MVBC adopts a typical Top-down EDA design methodology. Based on the function of class 2 MVBC to realize,the design is divided into seven modules:encoder,decoder,TAU, configuration memory,TMC, arbitrator and MCU.And then it designs each module with VHDL in the integrated development environment of Quartusâ…ˇdeveloped by Altera,and continue to complete the compilation, simulation and integration.It can take the place of MVBC ASIC successfully by developing with FPGA,and then we will not be enslaved to foreign companies and will promote the domestic technology development of TCN and turn out the MVB products with independent intellectual property rights,which have great significance.
