The axle center hole plays a role of position basis in the processing process. According to the principle of datum priority, the center hole localization is first processing procedure. The localization precision of center hole affects the quality of axle directly. Formerly the position of axle center hole only can depend upon worker's experience, the sketchy observation of human eye and a staff gauge. It is inaccurate and inefficiency in locating the center hole by these method.In view of the above mentioned question in processing axle center hole, this article design the axle center hole automatic location system on the basis of science investigation and careful analysis. Considering the shape of axle itself, this article uses a method in which we obtain the outline of the axle's three reference positions in the three dimensional coordinate space using the range finder sensor. So it transforms the question into a new one how to ask the biggest inscribed circle in the irregular graph. This circle center of circle is this axle's end surface center. At last we count the center coordinates. This method is proved to be convenience and fast and can enhance the accuracy and the concentricity.This system's detent mechanism contains the Sichuan servo-system, the VB software, Simens PLC and the labor controls machine. According to the center coordinates has been obtained, by the path plan system move the pulse signal from to localization electrical machinery to realizing pinpointing. Finally the center drill drills the axle center hole in the obtained position according to the procedure has been programmed.Finally, summarizes the main task of the article, analysis the exist problems, and improve the direction of the elaborate.
