Water-retentive pavement uses a kind of pavement with large air voids, such as opened-grade-friction-cement and porous asphalt concrete. We can achieve its functional requirements by priming water-retentive material. In the case of rainfall or sprinkler, Water-retentive pavement can absorb water and hold the water in the air voids of the water-retentive material. In the case of shining, the water holding in the air voids can evaporate and reduce the temperature of pavement. Water-retentive pavement can achieve good ecological benefits. Nowadays, with the environment protection consciousness more and more intense, water-retentive pavement has been widely applied.This paper focus on the structure of the water-retentive pavement, the selection of the water-retentive material, the composition of the water-retentive material, the characters of water-retentive material, the ability of reducing temperature, the construction technology and cost-effectiveness analysis of the water-retentive pavement. On the basis of this analysis, simulate the Thermal environment of water-retentive concrete in order to research the discipline of temperature changing of water-retentive concrete compared with dense-graded asphalt mixtures。At the same time, this paper research on water-retention mechanism of material by observing the hydration products of water-retention material. At last, this paper research on construction process and economic and social benefits of water-retentive pavement.Besides, analysis and verification on the road performance, such as:high-temperature performance, water stability, low temperature performance and strength performance.
