With the rapid development of underground engineering, the shield machine is widely applied. Shield machine which includes machinery, automatic control, hydraulic drive, laser guidance is integrated equipment. Like a flow line production in automated factory, the working procedures of shield machine are all linked with one another, if one of them have problems, it is possible to induce the stop of the whole equipment, even to the breakdown, and the project is not possible to advance with staggering losses. So grasping the state of the key equipment of shield machine is of significance to reduce the time of stop and ensure the project go through successfully. With virtual instrumentation, the state monitoring system is researched in this dissertation based on LabVIEW.With the background of Nanjing Yangtzi Tunnel Project, two shield machines-S349/S350 are inspected in this dissertation, the main monitored objects which are classified as motor, gearbox, pump and bearing are determined, according to the different types of equipment, different monitoring scheme is formulated, which includes vibration detection, infrared measuring temperature, pressure testing, stethoscopes auscultation, oil analysis, etc. The shield state monitoring system is divided into hardware and software. The system's hardware includes sensors, regulate module, acquisition card, notebook, etc. The whole system's hardware that can be operated by only one person is small and portable, and has waterproof, dustproof, quakeproof capacity adapted to the field of complex environment. Based on LabVIEW, the System software includes data acquisition, storage and signal processing, data analyzing three modules. Data store module can realize waveform and statistic data storage, and manage the data through Access database. Signal processing has rich analysis methods including time-domain statistics, correlation analysis, FFT frequency spectrum, cepstrum, ZOOM-FFT, demodulation analysis, short-time Fourier transform, Gabor expansion and transform, wavelet de-noising, wavelet decomposition and reconstruction, etc. Data analysis can realize data query, trend analysis, waveform playback, waveform reanalyze etc.After completing laboratory tests, this system is used to Nanjing Yangtzi Tunnel Project for half-year, and accumulates massive based data for two shield machines' future condition monitoring and fault diagnosis. The whole state of shield machine is very well until two tunnels run-through completely. Although have no fault, the system obtain good effect which removed many misjudgment phenomenon, provided the basis for field repair many times in the period of monitoring.
