With the progress of the metallurgical industry, ferroalloy enterprises have also been developed rapidly. However, ferroalloy enterprises is a high-energy user, energy saving is a problem that the ferroalloy enterprises'development must to face and to solve. The energy-saving of ferroalloy electric furnace is a very important technology, mainly to save electricity and to reduce power consumption. In this paper, with the electric furnace energy-saving control project of Jilin Ferroalloy A as background, proposed a comprehensive energy-saving control method of ferroalloy electric furnace with using static var compensator compenstate reactive power and hybrid filter govern harmonics.In this paper, the working principle and characteristics of ferroalloy electric furnace is introduced, analysed low power factor and harmonic pollution of ferroalloy electric furnace' two power quality problems' influences to the production of ferroalloy electric furnace. Learned from the analysis, the lower power factor and harmonic pollution is major factor in high energy consumption of ferroalloy electric furnace, so the key energy-efficient of electric furnace is to compensate reactive power and govern harmonic pollution. Before reactive power compensation and harmonic governance, need to accurately detect harmonic and reactive current that exist in the power supply system of electric furnance, this paper, based on the ip-iq harmonic detection method, proposed a harmonics and reactive current detection method which is more suitable for ferroalloy electric furnace asymmetric load.Next, the reactive power compensation and harmonic control method of electric furnace is introduced. Reactive power compensation of electric furnace using the method of TCR static var compensator combining with FC-phase shunt capacitor, it overcome the shortcomings of fixed compensation of shunt capacitors, TCR+FC static var compensator has better applicability and practicality on the electric furnace reactive power compensation; the harmonic govern method of electric furnace using hybrid filters which combined active filters with passive filters, hybrid filters overcome the shortcomings of active filters'high cost and passive filters'poor dynamic performance, more suitable for electric furnace' harmonic govern.Then, integrated design of the electric furnace energy-saving control system using the methods of reactive power compensation and harmonic govern. The electric furnace reactive power compensation system and filter system is designed separately, including the relevant parameters,control systems,structural schematics,hardware design; filters'absorption to self-generated harmonics of reactive power compensation system is considered in the design. At the last, energy-saving control program is simulatd in the use of MATLAB software, the simulation results confirmed the correctness and effectiveness of this energy-saving predictive control program, it provides a theoretical foundation for its application in the ferroalloy electric power supply systems to achieve energy-saving control.
