Landscape Design is a multidisciplinary subject, which involves a very wide area, many of its content is still unknown and waiting for exploring and practicing. In modern landscape design, ceramic materials has been widely used, it enriches the contents and forms of contemporary Landscape Design. The physical and spiritual content of ceramic fits the call of nowadays——natural, ecological, humanistic, personalized space. It engages abundant forms of expression, such as construction ceramics, pottery sculptures, sketches, ceramic landscape facilities, ceramic floor and so on, with its maximum tension to manifest the fundamental beauty of the ceramic materials. Those art works, which made of ceramic material, existing as a new language in urban environment design construction, mean while, the development and existence of this form of language brings a huge scale of possibility and value for thinking.This paper will going to discuss in the angle of the impact of the environmental factors and people's psychology of aesthetic, and then research how ceramic can be applied in the area of contemporary Landscape Design. It will also deeply discuss the relationship and background of ceramic materials and contemporary Landscape Design, and then analyze the uniqueness and the limitations in contemporary Landscape Design, by looking at several examples of this field of interest. Furthermore, it will probe into the key question of the practice of ceramic materials in contemporary Landscape Design area.
