The drum-tower, one of the landmark buildings in Dong stockaded village, is the masterpiece of exquisite craft of timber of Dong, and it is also an important carrier of Dong culture, conveying their deep emotion and wisdom. Dong drum-tower has rich cultural connotations, deep accumulation of historical culture, important history, culture, artistic and aesthetics value. From the artistic point of view, taking Gaoding Village Tower which located in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County for an example, this paper tries to study the aesthetics and aesthetic value of Drum Tower.In the past, researches mainly focused on the form, structure and construction area related to Drum Tower. Although some scholars concerned about the cultural meaning and function of the Drum Tower, and few from the perspective of art made a comprehensive analysis and study on the artistic form and aesthetic connotations. Thus the research from the artistic point is needed. This paper seeks a research on form and content of the Drum Tower comprehensively and systematically, so as to raise awareness of the characteristics of drum tower art, style and aesthetic value, enhance the aesthetic content, promote the cultural protection and development of the Drum Tower, and enhance self-confidence and cultural awareness.In order to research and reveal the distribution of the Drum Tower, the origin, development, evolution, types, and create a process and its shape, structure, decorative features and artistic style, cultural content, aesthetics and aesthetic value, social and cultural functions, this paper adopts synthetic research methods of multi-subjects and multidimensional vision such as ethnology, anthropology, history, artistic and aesthetic , bases on widely fieldwork, combines with relevant literature, uses theoretical reflection and analysis of the specific combination, macro interpretation and interpretation of cases combining, takes Gaoding drum tower in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County as a case to study and explore issues. It will reveal body beauty symmetry, sublime, solemn beauty and harmony of Dong drum tower.
