Aluminum dross is a slag that formed on the surface of molten Al during smelting processing. Large numbers of Aluminum dross was produced by some non-ferrous metal processing enterprises in China every year (1000t each of these production of aluminum, produced about 25t of aluminum dross).The dross not only caused a waste of resources,but also caused environmental pollution for the the large number of harmful ingredients in it. Therefore, it is imperative to strengthen the comprehensive utilization of aluminum dross.A lot of domestic and foreign scholars are committed to researching on the recovery of aluminium slag. Through unremitting efforts, many achievements on the use of aluminium dross has been abtained. However, the studies on characteristics of some components in aluminium dross are relatively small.Through the phase analysis we can find that aluminum dross contains a large number of AIN and Al2O3.Therefore, the author analysed the chemical and crystalline phase components of aluminum dross, on the basic of this, some basic physical and chemical properties were explored. Meanwhile, according to analysis on the forming manner of primary crystalline phases in aluminum dross, the author brought forwards some ways to reduce aluminum dross producing.Through high-temperature process, the characteristics of aluminum dross in sintering were studied. Through inspecting the focus of content changing of main phases and chemical reaction, the characteristics of the main phases affected by temperature in high-temperature process were obtained.AIN is an important component of aluminum dross.In this paper, a wet processing against AIN in particular was put in practice.Through experiments the author found that hydrolysis reaction can occur between aluminum dross and water, and generate a new phase. In this process, the law that the hydrolysis reaction effected by the reaction time and temperature was found.The rate of hydrolysis reaction of AIN is slower at low temperature.But with the temperature rising, the rate of hydrolysis is increasing.Aluminum dross contains a large number of aluminum element, and a majority of this were existing on the form of Al2O3.So, the author experimented on the dissolving characteristics of aluminum dross in melting cryolite, and found the appropriate measurement method through experiments.
