| The art form of plane glass art has been developing in association with the production and application of glass material, which was discovered and has been used of by human beings since thousands of years ago. During the process, glass and art were in close relations; and artists are able to combine glass material with their art concept only by grasping and utilizing the properties of glass. Among them, the property of melt casting has especially important impact on glass art. The characteristics of plane glass art is largely presented through the utilize of melt casting. With public art springing up, the plane glass art has become an important artistic expression in the field of it. In the combination of public art concept and flat glass art, the property of melt casting of glass plays a non-substitutable role. Through the analysis of the property of melt casting and the existing state of plane glass art in contemporary public art of china, this paper discusses the relationship between the visual effects and aesthetic connotations made by melt casting and the creation of public art; and whether or not the plane glass art can develop in the field of contemporary public art of china. |
