Lingerie-based Design Method And Applications

Ladies' underwear has an important role in female apparel industry, and it is a sunrise industry in apparel industry also. Underwear design is the original motivation of underwear industry development, and patternmaking design of underwear plays a more important role in that. Because underwear following suitable patternmaking design principle always satisfies many requirements, such as comfortable, close-fitting, body shaped, decorative and so on.The method of patternmaking design adopted in this thesis is prototype design, which is widely used in many countries where apparel industry is of developed. It is 20 years ago when patternmaking design was first introduced and applied in China, and now it has been approbated by people in apparel industry. Prototype, as so called ladies apparel patternmaking, is the patternmaking combining the ladies' patternmaking in Japanese culture and the ladies patternmaking by considering Chinese body features. There are so much types of underwear, and pattern designs are different from each other too. Designing clothing by patternmaking is very complicated, and it is difficult to apply it without considerable theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Base on ladies' clothing patternmaking, a patternmaking method for ladies' underwear design is proposed in the thesis. The underwear patternmaking is gotten by redesigning ladies' clothing patternmaking and is a new patternmaking form it to make the designing process more reasonable, faster and more suitabl. this thesis propose a novel that underwear patternmaking is generated by loose measurement and fashion design based on ladies' clothing patternmaking, and then underwear patternmaking is designed by it. The reason of proposing, designing and studying on underwear patternmaking is to analyze, conclude and summary the common characteristics, difficulties and flexible application of underwear patternmaking design, and find regularities in it.Underwear is classify to swimming type, bodysuit type, skirt type, and brassiere type in the thesis, and corresponding patternmakinges are designed and all of them are based on patternmaking design. Patternmaking of brassiere type is designed by using the features of steal circle since it contain one in it. The method owns the characteristics of convenience and efficiency.
