Taurine is a non-protein amino acid, is one of the essential importantamino acids in the body. It is known to play an important role in numerousphysiologyical and pharmacological functions, so it has now been widelyused in medicine, food and etc. Taurine industrialization in China hasdeveloped quickly since the beginning of the 1980's, the synthetic process oftaurine exceeds ten methods currently. Among them, monoethanolaminemethod because material easily get and reaction conditions more gentleresults in it become a most fashionable method in taurine industries nowadays.However, its yield is low, the quality, is unsteady. Moreover, taurine in Chinais mainly sold toward developed countries such as Europe, the United Statesand Japan, and these countries usually claim for taurine product qualityaccording to their pharmacopeias, i.e., China's product also has to satisfyother countries' quality requirements. Therefore, how raise taurine yield andproduct quality is urgent. The author of this paper according to the targetabove, searched the method of high-performance liquid chromatographicdetermination of taurine, 2-aminoethyl hydrogen sulfate and monoethanol-amine, reviewed the methodology, made sure feasibility of the method. Then,the method was applied to production monitoring, and made taurine yieldfrom 52% before had improved to 65% above now and its quality meeting totaurine export quality standard by improving taurine production technology.Main work was as followed:1. Studyed on the method of high-performance liquid chromatographicdetermination of 2-aminoethyl hydrogen sulfate and taurine using pre-columnderivatization, screened a suitable internal standard sample D, reviewed themethodology, and compared internal standard method with external standardmethod by analyzing taurine sample qualitatively and quantitatively. Finally,an internal standard method for the separation and quantitative determinationof taurine and 2-aminoethyl hydrogen sulfate in a single chromatographic analysis is established2. Studyed on the method of high-performance liquid chromatographicdetermination of monoethanolamine using pre-column derivatization,reviewed the methodology, the results showed, excellent linearity (r=0.9999)was achieved over the range 0.005~0.8g/L, the detection limits was9.87×10-8g/L. Recovery was 102.27%, relative standard deviation(RSD) was1.18% (n=5). It was a simple, sensitive and excluding other impuritiesinterference method more than titration. The proposed method wassuccessfully applied to the analysis of monoethanolamine.3. According to taurine export quality requirements, drafted taurinequality enterprise standard by making reference to pharmacopeias of China(ChP2005), the United States(USP29th) and Japan(JP 14th).4. The method above was applied to production monitoring, putforward and implemented optimization process scheme, the results showedtaurine yield from 52% before had improved to 65% above now, its content≥99.00%, and its limit of impurities meeting to drafting taurine qualityenterprise standard above, satisfying taurine export quality standard.In this paper, a simple and sensitive method for the simultaneousdetermination of 2-aminoethyl hydrogen sulfate and taurine by high-performance liquid chromatography using pre-column derivatization internalstandard method is described firstly. Compared with external standardmethods reported, the result shows good accuracy and reliability. In this paper,a high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination ofmonoethanolamine is reported firstly. A high-performance liquidchromatographic method was applied to production monitoring is alsoreported firstly.
