Coke acts the three main functions which are reductant, thermite and stock column skeleton in blast furnace. As the BF intensifying degree increasing, the reductant and thermite function is replaced, but the stock column skeleton function is becoming more and more important.Coke quality indexes can be divided into three main aspects , which are composition, physical property and metallurgical property.The coke ash is high, cool strength is good, metallurgical property is general in Kunming Iron and Steel Company. The 2000m~3 BF has been trouble in furnace condition resent years because of the coke metallurgical performance decreasing, and this leads big lost in KISC. This investigation wants to improve the coke metallurgical property of KISC through adopting coke passivation technology.The experimental investigation proves that the appropiate method of boric acid improving coke metallurgical property is adding boric acid into coke quenching water, the proper concentration of boric acid is 0.5~1.5 percent .The coke reaction index (CRI) can be decreased 3.85 percent and coke strength after reaction (CSR) increased 5.53 percent in lab test condition. The CRI can be decreased 1.39 percent and CSR increased 2.27 percent iduring industrial test.The experiment and practice proves that ZBS additive can improve coke metallurgical property significantly, and the ZBS additive formulation suited to specific characteristic of the coke in KISC is the forth one, that is KGJ-ZBS. The appropiate method of ZBS additive improving coke metallurgical property is spraying ZBS additive solution onto coke,The proper concentration of ZBS additive is 4 ~6 percent, spraying quantity is 1.5~2.0 percent. The CRI can be decreased 3.9~8.05 percent, CSR increased 4.89~12.38 percent in lab test condition. The CRI can be decreased 2.15 percent, CSR increased 3.22 percent during industrial test.After using the coke processed by boric acid and ZBS additive, the production of 2000m~3 No.6 BF enhanced 20.75~33.93 percent, fuel ratio decreased 39.2~89.225 kg/t,and enormous profit is attained during the industrial test.
