Microemulsion consists of water, organic solvent, surfactant, occasionally including alcohol as cosurfactant. It is defined as a system formed by the dispersion of microdroplets of two immiscible liquids, stabilized by an interfacial membrane formed by surfactant and cosurfactant. They are thermodynamically stable, homogeneous and optically isotropic solutions. Microemulsion hve been applied in many fields as its excellent properties. In this paper, Microemulsion were studied as separation media and as a new type of fuel. The influences of the concentration of cosurfactant and surfactant on the water content of the Microemulsion were studied, and the proper microemulsion extraction system has been obtained. Secondly, the effects of the concentration of CTMAB, pentanol, Ammonium thiocyanate, Sodium thiocyanate, and also the volume ratio of aqueous to microemulsion (R) and temperature on the extraction yield (E%) were investigated, the mechanism of the cobalt extraction was discussed. The extraction yield (E%) of nickle was much lower than cobalt, which makes the separation of cobalt and nickel possible. In the stripping stage, the metals extracted in the microemulsion phase were precipitated by Na2CO3 solutions and the microemulsions were recycled for the further use.In the following experiments, new excellent microemulsion diesel oil was successfully prepared with the theory of surfactants composite and the theory of the microexplosion. The main factors that effect the stability and the max water solubilization of the microemulsion were studied. The microemulsion diesel oil, we...
