Research Of Children’s Furniture Design Based On The Principle Of Time Delay

The paper took latency of children’s furniture as the main research direction, and combined with the importance, principles and methods of children’s furniture with latency, explored furniture in line with the growing characteristics of the children, to meet the growing demand of children by different regulatory approach. Children’s furniture should grow together with children, satisfy the needs of children at each stage and provide children with better furniture.From the child’s own characteristics, this paper explored how to make furniture accompany children growing up, i.e. how to make furniture with latency. I found through market research, children’s furniture appearing on the market has in the design too much to consider the preferences of the parents, ignoring the needs of the main consuming body- the children. On the market 60%-70% of children’s furniture is in imitation of adult furniture, just paying attention to the pursuit of shape change, where design concept is too simple. In a long run it will certainly expose various problems, leading to furniture design not matching the social development eventually, and being driven out of the society. To solve this problem, I read a lot of literature for children such as children’s physiology and psychology, intended to explore the latency of children’s furniture. As children’s physical and psychological changes relatively more significant than that of adults, children’s furniture shall not be as stationary as adult furniture with no change. By analysis of both children’s physical and psychological changes, it is found that the children’s furniture should have "changeable" and "unchangeable" features. By "changeable" and "unchangeable" coexistence, namely furniture size, shape change coexists with constant emotion, the latency of children’s furniture can be achieved. The principle of children’s furniture "changeable" conforms to the characteristics of physical and psychological changes in the child, and meets the needs of children on new functions, and raises children’ self-care and independent capacity, fully embodying the care to children.
