The plant fiber ultra light material is one of the ultra low density plant fiber materials, which is prepared by use of liquid foaming machineand and inorganic chemical foaming. Its density is low (0.01 g/cm3~0.09g/cm3), its fire resistance is good (the grade of fire resistance can meet the national standard B1 fire resistance), its insulation performance is excellent (its thermal conductivity is 0.025 W/(m·k)~0.037W/(m-k)), and its sound absorption and noise reduction performance is also excellent (its sound absorption and noise reduction coefficient is 0.62~0.74). It can be used for producing cushion packaging materials and building insulation materials production. Based on the structure and chemical composition analysis of the Salix fiber, the Salix fiber was used for enhancing the properties of waste paper fiber lightweight material. In addition, in order to solve defects of mixing plant fiber ultra light materials, such as the foaming rate instability, poor physical and mechanical properties, low flame retardant, etc., waste paper fiber need to be treated, the mass ratio of Salix fiber and waste paper fiber need to be tested, the starch adhesive need to be modified, the foaming process need to be researched, the dosage of water glass gel need to be tested.The results are as follows:(1) When Salix fiber incorporation was 40%, the structure and properties of material is the best. The density of material was 17.72 kg-m’3, the compressive stress was 21.46KPa, the static compressive residual strain was 63%, the LOI was 22.8%.(2)After waste paper fiber was treated with alkaline treatment and boric acid solution treatment, not only to improve the defects of waste paper fiber were improved, but also its activity was improved. The treatment made waste paper fiber easier combine with adhesive, flame retardants, and other chemical groups, so the flame retardant property of material was improved. The LOI of ultra light material made of mixed fiber without any treatment was 20.1%, The LOI of ultra light material made of mixed fiber with alkaline treatment was 25.4%, The LOI of ultra light material made of mixed fiber with alkaline treatment and boric acid solution treatment was 31.3%.(3)After the starch adhesive was modified with PVA and boric acid and borax buffer solution which PH value of 7, the viscosity and crosslinking of mixed adhesive was improved. The compressive property and flame retardant property of ultra light material made of the modified adhesive was enhanced. The compressive stress of ultra light material made of starch adhesive was 9.77KPa, its LOI was 20.1%. The compressive stress of ultra light material made of starch and PVA adhesive was 39.8KPa, its LOI was 25.6%. The compressive stress of ultra light material made of starch and PVA adhesive modified by borate and borax solution was 81.37KPa, its LOI was 32.3%.(4)The excellent foaming process of ultra light material is that the dosage of foaming agent——CH3(CH2)10CH2SO3 equals 6% of hybrid fiber, the dosage of NaHCO3 equals 2% of hybrid fiber, the dosage of NH4HCO3 equals 4% of hybrid fiber, mechanical foaming speed is 15000 rpm.(5) With the water glass gel content increases from 0 to 100%, the density of Salix fiber and waste paper fiber ultra light material is increased by 83.06%, its compressive stress is increased by 7.5times, its LOI is increased by 11.8%.
