Research On Paper Fiber Based Porous Cushioning Material

In the research,paper fiber which modified by sodium alginate(SA)were used as raw material,supplemented with gelatinized starch so that the polymer solution can form a continuous system,and polyvinyl alcohol and glycerin were used as plasticizer,combining the steam foaming with solid particles which formed by SA,under microwave heating,the cushioning materials with porous structure were prepared.The properties of foamed samples were tested and analyzed under different materials ratio.The results show that SA was able to disperse and strength the fibers,the average tensile strength of modified fiber up to 47.38 MPa.The moisture content has a great influence on the density of porous materials,When the mass ratio of water to fiber is 16(water/fiber),the average apparent density of porous material is 0.105g/cm3,and the tensile strength is 0.652MPa.when the static compression stress range is between 0.18-0.37MPa,the porous materials have a good cushioning performance;As the viscosity of SA will decrease when temperature rises,lead to the viscosity of the system is decreased gradually,which is not conducive to the forming of porous structure.So adding starch to enhance the viscosity stability,with the increase of starch content,the apparent density,tensile strength and load capacity of the porous material is gradually increased.When the mass ratio of starch to fiber was 0.5,the comprehensive performance of material is better,and the minimum buffer coefficient is 3.35.With the increase of the content of SA,the density of the material decreased and then increased rapidly,the tensile strength gradually increased and the load capacity decreased and then increased.When the mass ratio of SA to fiber is 0.05,the average apparent density is 0.110g/cm3,the average tensile strength is 0.552MPa,the material has a good cushioning performance under the stress of 0.234MPa,and the minimum buffer coefficient is 3.09;In order to avoid the phenomenon of fiber keratinization and starch retrogradation,enhance the toughness of the material,by adding PVA and glycerin to improve that,when the mass ratio of PVA to fiber is 0.15 and glycerin to starch is 0.25,the minimum buffer coefficient of the material is between 3 and 4,when the material strain in the 40%-75%,the stress range between 0.161-0.549 MPa,the materials have good cushioning performance.Using square mold to prepare material under different material ratio,SA gel particles can make the size of porous structure more uniform,and increase the number of cells per unit area,The porous materials prepared by waste paper pulp and wood pulp have different cushioning properties,when the stress between 0.5-1.5MPa and 0.09-0.5MPa respectively,the materials have agood cushioning performance.The corresponding material strain is 50%-80%and 47%-76%,the minimum buffer coefficient is 2-3 and 5-6 respectively;and the minimum acceleration values are about 120g and 70g respectively.
