Alumina silicate fiber paper as a slim heat barrier material has the advantages of little volumetric weight, low thermal conductivity, excellent thermal insulation properties, environmental friendly and long useful life. Alumina silicate fiber paper can be used in various industries. So we need to prepare alumina silicate fiber papers which have different heat resistance. In this research, the formulation and modification of adhesive used in alumina silicate fiber were investigated. The adhesives suit for alumina silicate fiber paper with different conditions was preparationed. Concrete work and major achievements included as follows:1 The formulation of adhesive①. The alumina silicate fiber paper adding organic adhesive has good physical strength. The effect of phenolic resin was best. But the organic adhesilves have low heat-resistant quality. Inorganic adnesive has good heat-resistant quality while bondstrength was bad. Sodium silicate was good than others.②. The effect of paper strength was good when adhesive were formulated. The retention of adhesive was increased with formulation. The best formulation ratio between CMC and cationic starch was 1:1. The best formulation ratio between CMC and PVA was 8:2. The formulation ratio between ludox and sodium silicate was designed 10:1. And the formulation ratio between sodium silicate and PVA was designed 10:1. The formulated adhesive between sodium silicate and PVA adding in slumina silicate fiber paper can be used in 400℃.2 The modification of inorganic adhesive①. The brittleness and strength performance of sodium silicate were improved by modificated with disodium hydrogen phosphate and borax. The best dosage of disodium hydrogen phosphate was 4%. The best dosage of borax was 2.5%.②. The strength of alumina silicate fiber paper adding modificated sodium silicate was improved. The effect of modification with borax was better than disodium hydrogen phosphate.3 Preparation of modificated organic adhesive①. Phenolic resin was modified with boric acid. The optimum preparation conditions by experimental study were as follows:The best molar ratio of phenol: aldehyde: boric acid was 1:1.5:0.4. The dosage of ammonia liquor as catalyst was 10%. The condensation reaction time was 2.0~2.5 hours in the condition of 60~80℃. The esterification reaction time was 3 hours in the temperature condition of 100℃.②. Modified phenolic resin had a resistance to high temperature up to 600℃, which could be mainly explained by reduce of free hydroxyl group quantity and introduce of boron-oxygen bond whose bonding energy was higher than that of carbon-carbon bond.4 Discussion of solid adhesiveThe optimum conditions of adding PVA fiber used in alumina silicate fiber paper were as follows: the dosage of PVA fiber was 20%, drying temperature was 140℃, and jittertime was 210s. The dosages of formulated adhesive were: CMC was 10%. Sodium silicate, ludox and PAC were 50%.5 Formula of adhesive used in different productions①.The adhesive used in vacuum cup was 10% phenolic resin. The adhesive used in humidifier was 20% sodium silicate and 2%PVA. The adhesive used in high temperature stove was 20% modification sodium silicate with borax.②.The membrane was formed with adhesive used in alumina silicate fiber paper. The convective heat transfer of air was reduced in the impact of membrane. So the heat-shielding performance of alumina silicate fiber paper was improved.
