The development of the hydro-upgrading technologies for fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) gasoline and the kinetic models for these technologies were comprehensively reviewed in this paper. Based on the features and reaction mechanism of FCC gasoline hydro-upgrading process (M-DSO) developed by China National Petroleum Corporation, the lumped reaction networks for M upgrading process and DSO hydro-treating process and their model kinetic equations were established respectively. With the help of the software programmed by Microsoft C++, kinetic parameters in the lumped kinetic models for M upgrading process and DSO hydro-treating process were calculated according to the experimental data from the small scale device. The verification results show that these parameters are reliable because they are consistent with the reaction rules of hydrocarbon catalytic hydro-treating and the relative errors between model predicted values and practical data are less than 5%. The discussion on the parameters in kinetic models for M upgrading process and DSO hydro-treating process shows that M-DSO process is better than DSO-M process on FCC gasoline hydro-upgrading because it can both decrease olefin content in gasoline and increase the octane number of gasoline. M-DSO kinetic model can give an important reference for the operation optimizing of the process and the modification of catalysts for M-DSO process. The comparison of kinetic model parameters for M-DSO process and DSO-M process shows that the preposition of M process in FCC gasoline upgrading process is beneficial to enhance the isomerization of M catalyst and to increases the octane number of upgrading gasoline because of high olefin content in feedstock oil (FCC gasoline). Consequently, olefin content in gasoline is lower than that of DSO process in DSO-M process.
