With the development of the word, users not only need the function of products, but also pay more attention to the appearance quality. After studying the Computer Numerical Control(CNC) machine in the world with the method of Design Form Analysis(DFA) and kansei engineering, the relationships between leading gene and perceptual image are found, which can provide some reliable basis of CNC machine modeling design to the manufacturer and product designer, shorten the design cycle of product modeling, enhance the added value and market competitiveness of CNC machine in our country, lengthen the product life cycle.Firstly, after analyzing the modeling features of CNC machine in several enterprises with the method of DFA, the genes are found. According to the scoring average of the gene, the leading gene and the representative samples are found. Then the perceptual image vocabularies pairs of the CNC machine are found through questionnaires and statistics. An image scale model is proposed. Finally, using this model, some CNC machines are designed satisfying the needs of customers and market. Then the effectiveness of the image scale model and the design scheme is demonstrated by semantic difference questionnaire.The findings show that designers can design product fleetly and effectively using the relationships between the leading gene and image which is presented by the model.
