In engineering, the arc furnace method is the main method of guimeng alloy production. Because arc furnance can comsume great electricity, so the primary problem in smelting guimeng alloy with -arc furnance is energy saving. In arc furnance, the electrode lifting system is an important part in the whole system, of which performance directly determine production indexes of the whole system.A renovation project of arc furnace in one ferroalloy company was taken as research background, and a closed-loop control system scheme with industrial computer as upper controller and PLC controller as subordinate controlle, electrode displacement detected by photoelectric encoder as feedback was designed, basing on a comprehensive analysis of the problems existing in the system and the electrical characteristics of arc furnace. What's more, optimization position control based on three-phase pool power balancewas taken as the control strategy of electrode.An electrode position soft measurement model is bilut after analyzing the property of electrode and the reason for the variation of the electrode insert depth. In the model, Electrode consumption length is diffivult to detect, and an electrode position soft measurement model is built by modern identification theory which combineding LS-SVM based on hybrid kernel function and soft measurement techniques. And the moel is simulated by the LS-SVMlab toolbox of MATLAB. The simulation results show that the soft measurement model has a good generalization ability and prediction ability, so it can be applied to electrode position online prediction.Finally, an Electrode position optimal setting model based on three-phase pool power balance has been built, after a comprehensive analysis of the electrical system and the internal circuit of melting pool by circuit theory,What's more, the parameters of the model has been studied,all of which have layed foundation for optimization control of electrode insert depth.
