The dripping pills are a new form of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in which some raw materials are ground and distilled together with solid substrate by heating to be a solution, suspension or emulsion that flows to an immiscible agent to become some round pills due to condensation and interfacial tension. Actually, dripping pills are a dosage made of solid state dispersoid by gravity dripping.Because TCM pills are a unique dosage that was never developed and produced by any Chinese and overseas pharmaceutical makers, no reach-me-down technologies are available and referenced except for independent technological innovation. We made some achievements in dripping technology and uniform solution of TCM through insight research and massive experiments.From the perspective of raw TCM solution, traditional treatment of TCM solution and agitating method can not guarantee good uniformity of solution and hence high quality pills can not obtained because TCM elements in pills disperse randomly. Meanwhile. TCM elements are easily conglomerated to block up nozzles during the process of dripping pills. To solve this problem, we invented a new homogeneous emulsification technology and equipment in which a colloid mill agitates and mixes raw TCM solution fully to make sure any elements can be dispersed evenly for no production of conglomerate and good dripping characteristics. The new dispersing system is made of a new-type agitator tank and colloid mill.In dripping technology, traditional dripping technology makes use of gravity to produce round pills at the cost of non-uniform roundness, size and low production capacity. Under the guidance of Rayleigh-s microsphere theory, we had an insight research on the flow shape of raw TCM solution from nozzle and observed that if TCM solution drops down from nozzle by means of laminar flow, good uniformity can be obtained. The dropped liquid is cut off to by pressurized vibration and then formed round pills in condensed agent due to interfacial tension.In this research, another four breakthrough technologies are invented as (1) dynamic drifting fast rapid-typing technology; (2) pill shaping based on temperature gradient; (3) axial turbulent flow based high efficient free pills isolationï¼›(4)on-line pills isolation.By means of design and manufacture of key equipments, a TCM dripping pills production line was successfully completed to massive production of compound salvia dripping pills Meanwhile, several patents were granted.The production line of TCM is the first automatic line which can produce annual production of 1.7 billion yuan and provides a better technical base for forging the first brand of modern Chinese medicine.
