In the course of building socialist construction in economy, fire disasters increasingly happened, especially, they happened more frequently in the cities. Not only do they threaten security of the property and lives of people, but also they bring great harms to human society and nature. However, there have been left much room for improvement in the fire-fighting system of the cities, such as much slow in reaction, manufacture management in controlling fire-fighting etc. All these will surely result in incapacity of fixing the position and controlling the flames promptly and effectively. Thus a system which can promptly display and store live information about the intensity of a fire disaster is eagerly wanted.Geographical information system (GIS) combines geographical scientific data with the attribute data effectively. It affords a kind of visible information system to us. This thesis mainly dwells on the use of GIS technology in huge damage assessment and its function in the construction of the information system with data processing in the fire-fighting and surveying its danger roots concerning all the geographical information, i.e. the applying MapX to bring about the live use of city electrical data map for fire-fighting in displaying and its relating functions. The main contents are as follows: introduction to the purpose and the importance in writing the thesis, general remarks about the basic theory of GIS , construction of the city electrical data map, full use of all the functions of city electrical data map in pantograph, microphotography and travelogue, information-inquiring functions for specialized subjects, analysis of choosing the best rout for fire-fighting ,and relating technology adopted for use, etc..In addition, this thesis is helpful in huge damage assessment and fire-fighting data information construction, to build up highly effective and scientific fire-fighting system, therefore, it can help the fire brigade officers greatly reduce damage of the property and lives of the people at lowest cost.
