With a constantly expansion of their sphere of activity and advanced development of material civilization, human beings are increasingly exercising influence on ecological environment and diving into research on environmental changes. It is on the frontier of global environmental change studies that to establish a high-resolution environmental evolution sequence. Search for high-resolution paleoenvironment records and improvement on resolution of environmental evolution research are indispensable to have an understanding of climate Jump and short-cycle phenomenon. And the high-resolution paleoenvironment records are based on a high-precision chronology. Luminescence dating technique, a main method of the Quaternary dating, is superior to any others, different from that basically rely on radioactive nuclide decay.Mineral Quartz, combing from the two most common chemical elements in the Earth's crust, distribute extensively. Known to be the most resistant rock-forming mineral, Quartz is sensitive to radiation, and the radiation energy it reserves is with perfect characteristic of thermoluminescence (TL) after being stimulated, which has been used as radiation dosimeter for years. It is of great significance to promote research on the TL of Quartz. In an attempt to explore the TL of Quartz, experiments were performed to support our conclusions including TL responses to a ray, as well as TL responses and relative efficiency to various types of radiation source ofαandβ, from Quartz of different thickness, and basic conventional work on calibration of irradiation source in laboratory were accomplished.
