Because digital elevation model(DEM) is an important basic data for building the geographical spatial model, so the high resolution elevation data is very essential for the fundamental GIS construction. Nowadays, SRTM elevation data is the most high resolution and high accuracy data, so it is an important data resource for building and analyzing in the geographical special model research. But SRTM elevation data produced a number of no-data voids due to lack of contrast in the radar image, presence of water, or excessive atmospheric interference. These no-data voids are especially concentrated along rivers, and in steep regions and often on hillsides with a similar aspect due to shadowing. So we must fill the voids in SRTM data for enhancing the availability and reliability of SRTM data .Main contributions of the dissertation include:1. A thorough research on the available methods and techniques of filling the no-data voids in SRTM data is performed. Based on the comprehensive analysis of recent developments in this field, main problem in the research are pointed out.2. By analyzing and comparing all kinds of the methods to fill the no-data voids in SRTM data in detail , and summarizing the advantage and disadvantage of the methods in final.3. By summarizing the above-mentioned, and realizing the Kriging interpolative method to fill the no-data voids in SRTM data .4. By using the Geostatistics Analyst of ArcGIS to examine the availability of Kriging interpolative method.5. But in this paper, the Kriging interpolative method can be used in small areas, and can' t guarantee the accuracy of the Kriging interpolative method in big areas.
