The development of remote sense technology provided high resolution remote sensing image data. People became more interested in the study of magnanimity remote sensing image. The extraetion of drainage system from DEM is one of the foundations of automatic and intelligentive recognition drainage network. The source of DEM are various.This paper discusses the prevalent DEM data source-SRTM DEM's characteristic and applies SRTM data to hydrology science using River Tools and ArGIS Hydro Tools software with the aim of testifying the validity of SRTM data in Hydrology, we extract drainage network automatically by SRTM DEM. This paper Builds the simulation 3D digital terrain model and achieves 3D display based on SRTM data.The technological process of this paper is divided into four parts,information collection,data processing,information extraction and analysis summary. This paper used SRTM DEM Images as data sources,and applied ERDAS8.6, ArcGIS9.0 software to enhance images information. The content covers the following sections:(1) In terms of artificial neurual network (ANN) technique, a new method in which elevation as interpolation variant was adopted to void holes filling method of SRTM data. And then a small area elevation special interpolation was studied using the technique.(2) this paper applies SRTM data to hydrology science using River Tools and ArGIS Hydro Tools software with the aim of testifying the validity of SRTM data in Hydrology.(3) This paper Builds the simulation 3D digital terrain model and achieves 3D display based on SRTM data.
