It is a waste of manpower and money to obtain marine parameter in a long-playing, pointed spot and continuous way. Especially, most of the vertical inspect tasks from surface of the sea to the bottom are completed by vessel."Seahorse Moored Wave-Powered Profiler"(It's called"Seahorse"for short.) utilize surface wave energy to move a sensor platform down to the bottom of the seafloor or the prearranged depth. At that time the central control unit sent the command to release the platform. Then the platform floats to the surface of the sea by the buoyancy itself. The automatic measurement and storage of the marine elements is completed during the course mentioned above.The central control unit is the commander of"seahorse"platform. The system realize single directed clutching, damp locking, and floating states under water. When the system at the state of single directed clutching, the platform could only move downwards. When the wave moves up, the detent undoes and the platform settles in the same place. When the wave moves down, the detent clutches the mooring wire. The platform goes downwards. Mooring wire goes up and down continuously with the wave. And the platform travels on a taut mooring wire to the sea floor or the prearranged depth. When the platform reaches the sea floor, the detent opens and the platform loosen. The platform is in a free floating state. It floats up on the taut mooring wire on the control of the central control unit because it is a positive flotage. During the free floating course, the CTD configured in the platform begins to measure the marine elements. Damp locking is a state that there are two dampers on the fixed place of the mooring wire(For example, the depth near the marine surface is five to eight meters and near the marine floor is fifteen to twenty meters.)The platform could complete the measurement of some special marine parameters.The hardware design of central control unit is based on a micro processor which is called AT89C2051. The design also utilizes solid state relay, electromagnetism relay and I2C integrated circuit. The diameter of the central control circuit is 109mm and the circuit is design to be roundness for the sake of integrated command of the whole system. At the same time, measures are considered and adopted to avoid the interferer from electromagnetism. The software of the central control unit is edited with compile language. The language is easy to use and understand. The circuit also uses"watching dog"integrated circuit in case of chaos of the program. Once the program is out of order,"reset"signal is given off and the program is initialized."Seahorse"could travel on a taut mooring wire and permit a complete vertical profile of the water column to be obtained with a single sensor, eliminating the need for multiple sensors on the mooring line. It is proved by the experiment indoor and outdoor that the central control unit could control the"seahorse"in a prearranged way and the system realizes three states under water. The profiler will operate in very calm conditions with as little as 15cm wave height at a 2 second period. We could draw the conclusion that both the hardware and the software are run in a normal way. The assumed destination is achieved.
