Jinan Spring Recharge

Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, is well known for its spring. But in these years, due to overdevelopment and falling of water-table, the spring stopped gushing. This paper researches on how to feed groundwater by water infusion, aiming for re-gushing of spring. The study includes: 1) hydrogeologic condition shows the spring is the outcome co-functioned by the unique geography, geomorphy, lithology of bed, and geologic structure, which is a natural discharging of crack karst spring. The geologic condition of Yufu River catchment helps the seep of surface water, which can feed groundwater effectively. 2) Analysis on two experiments of water infusion in 2001 and 2002 proves the water seep from Yufu River to karst groundwater helps greatly for spring re-gushing. 3) Analysis on headwater of Yufu River shows it measures up, and water infusion cannot pollute the groundwater. Therefore, Yufu River needs comprehensive regulated and dam constructed in the water way, which can increase the storage. On these condition, the groundwater is fed so the spring can gush again, which is important to improve the water environment of Jinan.
