Ungulates affect plants through many ways except for predation. They disperse parasites and seeds, create concentrated patches of nutrients through urination and defecation, and also mechanically damage vegetation by trampling and bedding. But plants has never been passive preys, they would respond to these behaviors. Since 1980', role of plants in the interaction system between animals and plants has been a focus of great attention, of which response of plants to vegetarian is the kernel. Cervus eldi hainanus is the national category one protected animal, living in Hainan Bangxi Provincial Nature Reserve. The area of the protected areas is small, thus lack of food is urgent to be solved due to the high density of Eld's Deer.In this research, we studied the influence of intensive predation of Eld's Deer on plants.Enclosures were set up to make sure there were places the deer could not reach, in contrast with places influenced by the deer.Conventional community and individual investigation were performed. Paraffin slices were used to observe tissue structure. We set up 15 enclosures in the protected areas, with 8 sample plots in each. Height, coverage and density of every species were measured and recorded in May, to calculate proportions of every species in all samples, and then mean value was caculated as main variable for Cluster Analysis. Based on Cluster Analysis, sample plots were classified into four...
