Structural seismic response observation is an important aspect of strong motion observation. Because the research on strong motion observation and structural seismic response observation in our country starts in 1960s,but it still gets behind other countries. So the methods to installation of structural seismic observation array should be reinforced. The main gist of prevenient work in deployment of structural seismic response observation array is mode analysis, that is, observation spots lie on the stories where the amplitudes of the mode shapes are the biggest, ignoring the effect of input motion. The observation spot quantities in this way are greatly short. So new logical methods should be found to supervise the deployment of structural seismic response observation array.In this paper, choosing free-field site, selecting the floors and confirming channel numbers are mainly discussed, based on which deploy principles are concluded. Choose the places where are apart 1/2~1/3 earthquake wave-length from structures and about double height of structures to deploy free-field site; Based on the results of structural kinetic analysis, confirm the peak acceleration distribution, maximum distribution of shift ratio and the special layers distribution to select the layer where the observation spots are. On every layer certain places are chosen to deploy the instruments. Generally, on the free-field size tri-axial instruments are installed; For the selected floors, tri-axial instruments are installed on geometrical center, both horizontal channels are used to record translations and vertical channel to record rocking. On the end of the same floors, twi-axial instruments are installed symmetrically, the two sensors paralleling to the walls are used to analyze torsion and the vis-à-vis sensors to analyze distortion of the floor.In the specific deployment, find the layers to install the instruments firstly by means of peak acceleration, then by the means of shift ratio maximum and finally by means of the equipment layers and refuge layers. In practice when arrays are deployed, it is necessary that the similar channels have same testing directions and identical plane position and all the sensors are installed on the main body structures.In this paper, all the principles are put into practice in the deployment of structural seismic response observation array in the Yin Tai Center. Firstly structure model is built based on the design data and analyzed by means of structure dynamics, and 15 mode shapes are set for mode analysis. Then analyze the distribution of the maximum shift ratio and peak acceleration and select the floors that are equipment layers and refuge layers to confirm the layers where spots are. Finally make sure the specific positions on the chosen layers and the channel numbers according to the principles.In this paper, the author tries to carry out the primary research on structural health diagnosis based on structural seismic response observation array.
