Error Theory: Lakatos Lakatos's Reconstruction

On the basis of Popper's standpoint, Lakatos built up a dynamic pattern of scientific development with the Scientific Research Programmes. As the core, this pattern was comparatively suitable with the history of scientific development. But this pattern could not give an answer to the problem of "limitation of time" which emerges from the deadline of sitting out in the program of degeneration. Acting as a kind of descriptive knowledge to the history of scientific development ,this pattern could not afford us the significance of guiding.When the principle that a theory falsifies a theory developed logically to a certain degree, the deadly defect of that theory, the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes which put forward by Lakatos , came into being. After criticized the principle that experience falsifies a theory, Lakatos put forward that principle. But he overlooked the decisive function that the practice plays in the process of cognition. So, he could not invade the one-sideness in his theory. He went to the other extreme when criticizing the extreme.In order to interpret the history of scientific development and to reveal the objective laws of scientific development well, we should have a reconstruction of it with the practicing outlook of Maxism acting as the backbone on the basis of criticizing sophisticated falsificationism. The principle that scientific facts ostensibly falsify theory should play a roleof theoretic basis in the process of reconstruction. "Ostensible falsification" played a kernel role in this principle with the combination of the process character in Lakatos's falsification and negative character in Popper's falsification. After being ostensibly falsified, scientific theory exists continuously in a specific scientific evaluating unit with a style of wrong theory, transformation of which towards right theory constitutes one of the main substance of the pattern of the development of science. The introducing of the concept of wrong theory leads a beginning to the reconstruction of the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes. The reconstructed pattern of scientific development with the wrong theory being dynamic, its kernel is the transformation of research programme.
