Coastline' s study in the field of fractal was thin and week, because it had not been thought much of by people since I960' s.On the basis of the above, and as a case study of Jiangsu province' s coastline and Fujian province' s coastline, their partial fractal and unitary fractal, the effect of faultage were discussed primarily.In this thesis, some contents are studied as follows:1. Using different dividers, the fractal character exists for Jiangsu province' s coastline and Fujian province' s coastline, and the fractal dimension of each other is 1.0962, 1. 1756. The length of each coastline(o m contour line) is changed with the dimension, and the range is beyond thousands.2. Using the same method, we can know that the fractal character exists for Lianyungang' s coastline and Yancheng' s, Nantong' s, the fractal value of each is 1.0531, 1.0693, 1. 1495. The values of fractal show that the extension of sinuation of coastline change complex, and so the distributing space is larger gradually from north to south.3. As a case study of Jiangsu province' s coastline and Fujian' s, the relationship between the unitary fractal dimensions ant parts are discussed firstly. The unitary fractal dimensions ant parts conform to average of all, namely the unitary fractal is the average of parts. As an average value of the unitary fractal, it has its contrastive significance. So if you want to study deeply, you should think much of the fractal value of each phase, each level, and that the conclusion can be used significantly.4. The development of rupture structure is important for the characters of coastline. The ascend and descend of structure causeddifferent type of coastline. Because of difference of the coastline, the values of fractal are different. The degree and orientation of structure also affect the of value coastline. Different degree and interaction of different orientation cause the curve of the coastline. If structure is complex and its distribution is extensive, the value of fractal of coastline is larger accordingly.From the value and control of structure to coastline, we can know that fractal shows not only the complicated of geological phenomena, but also the being of cause of geological formation in a sense.
