Research On Toponym Ontology Design And Spatial Retrieval Mechanism Based On Owl

On the basis of conclusion of basic concepts of toponym ontology, the paper introduced the research status of toponym dictionary and toponym ontology, the basic theory and technology of ontology as well as the development of ontology representation language and retrieval manners. The paper constructed geo-information organization mechanism based on toponym ontology and designed the conceptualization of toponym ontology. Then, the paper formalized the toponym ontology based on OWL and validated the theory and technology in this paper through the spatial information retrieval prototyping system based on toponym ontology.The main content is as follows:1. Based on the conclusion of research status of toponym ontology and the development of ontology representation language and retrieval manners, the paper discussed problems existed in the current place name information organization and proposed solution based on the toponym ontology.2. The related theory and technology of ontology is researched. The paper discussed the definition and classification of ontology, as well as the main construction manners and instantiation tools. Also concluded the content of toponym information organization and analyzed the function of toponym ontology.3. The paper designed the conceptual model of toponym ontology. In line with the need of design requirement, the paper designed conceptual model and discussed construction methods of topology ontology based on the conclusion of the key questions in topology ontology design from the aspect of topology ontology semantic relationship, spatial relationship and spatial location expression. Then, the paper realized the spatial information expression based on toponym ontology.4. The paper formalized toponym ontology based on OWL. On the basis of the design of conceptual model, the paper discussed the method, language and tools of toponym ontology formalization. Then formalized toponym ontology with ontology edit tool Protégébased on OWL.5. The paper concluded the design and realization of spatial information retrieval prototyping system. On the basis of discussion of the design of retrieval system framework, the paper realized the prototyping system and presented the main function instances.
