Research On Toponym Ontology Service Oriented Spatial Semantic Retrieval Framework

Ontology plays an important role in the development of spatial semantic web, and geo-ontology facilitates the discovery of geo-information and recourses. The new generation GIS is service-oriented. As an important ingredient of geographic ontology, toponym ontology is of great significance for the research of geo-information service.Based on the conclusion of basic concepts of toponym ontology and the need in daily geo-information retrieval, the paper designed the conceptual model and service framework of toponym ontology, discussed service-released strategy, and also summarized the ways of spatial data organization and relation expression. Meanwhile, the paper introduced the ontology theory and methods into place name organization, and studied the design of toponym ontology model, the expression of spatial concept and spatial semantic relation, the service release as well as the intelligent spatial retrieval framework. Thus, the paper supplied the united semantic framework for place name description and established foundation for the share and cooperation of place name information as well as spatial semantic information retrieval. Based on the established toponym ontology service, the paper constructed prototyping system of spatial semantic intelligent retrieval, so as to validate toponym ontology in semantic web information retrieval, and also explored the way of the semantic retrieval based on toponym ontology.The main content is as follows:1. The paper constructed toponym ontology supporting spatial information retrieval, and generated the geographic element basis data by data transformation and integration of semantic information in place name dictionary. The paper also constructed toponym ontology model, based on which database model was constructed so as to store ontology instance data and apply data foundation for spatial semantic retrieval.2. The paper designed the toponym ontology service framework based on middleware, in which the design and implementation of the toponym ontology service framework was emphasized. The .NET technique is used so as to realize the toponym ontology service based on SOAP, and defined related document of toponym ontology service interface to facilitate using of the service.3. The paper designed the spatial semantic search engine, in which the toponym ontology was combined with the commonly used keyword search mechanism. The design and implementation of the toponyn oriented spatial semantic retrieval framework is one of the key points in the paper. The spatial semantic search was introduced into the traditional retrieval way, which finally improved the performance of spatial retrieval mechanism.
