MMIS Application Research Of Material Management In Jilin Oilfield

Materials procurement and management is viewed as very strategic to the oil enterprise which generally involvs with planning ,organization and control in terms of materials procurement,transportation, warehousing and supplies needed to keep the factories operating. Effective material management is essential which can help (1)rational use of raw material, (2)keep costs low, (3)improve quality of products,(4)produce at maximum efficiency, and (5) manage inventories at predetermined levels to stabilize investments in inventories. Jilin Oilfield Company is a large comapny engaged in oil exploration and development business. The materials needed covers 60 product catalogs. Every year nearly tens of thousand material have to be purchased to satisfy needs. The traditional purchase mode is hard to meet the elaborating management requirements. Due to the material purchasing information lag and scattering, the cost of material procurement and management is inevitable boosted and transparency of information is reduced. The establishment of MMIS provides technical support for material elaborating management in Jilin Oil Field. Via MMIS, the material comprehensive management is further integrated in terms of function of pre-planning, process control and post- evaluation. The system is used for internal control, which is detailed in every link of business. Data can be recorded timely and shared by all departments. the authorized users can obtain and/or update the status of all materials instantly using the forms provided over the Internet, thus it helps administrators identify and eliminate unnecessary and expensive inventory. Manual labor is reduced and maloperation is avoided based on this system. The introduction of this system enhanced productivity, reduced management costs, updated the control of work flow, strengthened the enforcement of policy, improved the responsing speed to market and increased profit potential.This paper mainly introduces the related theory of management Information System in the enterprise in China and the practice of jilin oilfield company, MMIS (1996) Manage System, design of websites features, functions and application is introduced, the System's business objectives, the function of the System framework and internal control System, technology and application, physical were studied, and the application and existing problems is discussed and analyzed.
