As an important mark in the development process of management science, Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is an advanced management thought nowadays. Some domestic and foreign firms have perfected management and improved performance greatly by BPR. While each firm must be confronted with a long-term task to develop new products, the success and failure of new product R&D directly determine the firm's survival and development. Meanwhile it is also recognized that the development of new products is characterized by high risk, vague prospect for success and great challenge. How to reconcile BPR theory with the new product development is an important researching subject which Daming Company meets with.The article takes Daming Company as an example to study the new product development process reengineering. Most of all, this article reviews relevent BPR terms and BPR development process and introduce its principle, measure and tools, etc.. In addition, based on the description of new product development process reengineering in Daming Company, the article employs costing and process analyzed by time and action research method to make sure the time spent on every process, and find out the non-value-added action in the process. This article uses method ABC to calculate actual costs in each process. Furthermore, consistent with BPR principle and method, it analyzes product R&D process before BPR on multi-level and multi-perspective and finds problems existed in the process. Consequently, it restructures the process of new product development according to the actual condition in the company. The practice shows that restructured process achieves the expected goal to minimize R&D time and cost and enhance R&D quality. Finally, the article evaluates how the reengineering plan of new product development process impacts on the overall management system of Daming Company, and forwards improvement proposals with respect to some questions posed by the new process implementent.
