Study On The Impact Of Human Capital Investment On Urban Competitive

Urban has been in the forward position in the global competition under the condition of the economic globalization and knowledge economy. Along with the rapid development of urbanized and urban-rural integration, intercity rivalry is growing fiercer, the competition strong or week not depends on static relative comparative advantage, but tends to dynamic creative competitive advantage. Influence factors of urban competitiveness are changing from traditional hard elements such as the location, capital and resources to soft elements, namely human capital, technology and culture etc. Human capital is the direct facilitator on the technology innovation and application, so it plays very important role in the process of competition. Explore how human capital investment effects urban competition has strong practical significance and certain practical value. So this essay discusses the mechanism of human capital investment on urban competition based the existing research results both at home and abroad, then has the empirical analysis of Shandong province. This research integrates human capital theories and urban competition theories, which has important theoretical guiding role to boost its competition of Shan dong province with rich source of human beings and weak human capital.This paper includes five parts.The first part is introduction. It explains the research background and purpose, and briefly reviews related human capital and urban competition at home and aboard, finally redefines the concept of"human capital investment"and"urban competition".The second part is one of the key points of this paper. It analyzes the mechanism of human capital investment on urban competition from the point of theory. And it expounds from core subsystem and environment subsystem, then studies the impacts of human capital investment on industrial competitiveness, enterprise competitiveness, environmental quality, base installation and city culture ect. Then summarizes the mechanisms, which is human capital investment raising the urban competitiveness through two driving force of impetus and pressure.The third part is another key of the paper, which researches the impacts of human capital investment on urban competition of Shandong province from the empirical perspective. First it analyzes regional variation of human capital investment and urban competition in Shandong province using principal component, then quantitative analyses the impact of human capital investment on urban competition with the method of regression, and has the following conclusions: human capital investment has important positive impacts on urban competition, specifically, the transfer investment has the greatest and the most directly influence; the research investment and social security also has important influence; the health care investment is basic and irreplaceable; the education and training investment is a long-term potential factor, which must persist investment to back the Sustainable competition Advantage for the city.The fourth part proposes the suggestions from the investors, investment forms, investment structure and investment regions, which can optimal human capital and raise the urban competitiveness.Finally, the conclusion part summarizes the main research contents, points out the deficiencies of this study and puts forward my expectations of the study.
