Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of the three gateways to China, and also a complex hub in the national airports layout.According to the master plan of Baiyun International Airport, there will be five runways and two terminal areas ultimately, handling 95 million passengers annually. In the first terminal area, there are two terminals (T1 &T2) and three runways to handle 75 million passengers per year. T2, located to the north of T1, is designed to handle 45 million passengers.The airport expansion program in terms of terminal and apron layout, terminal functions, airport users'flows and apron operation is reviewed and discussed in the paper, to make sure that the program is in compliance with the needs of airport hub development.Airport hub development needs in respect of trend of air transport industry, airport hub construction requirements and application of new technologies is also discussed. Based on the theory of design specifications, experience of Baiyun International Airport phase one project and international civil aviation trends, plan and design principles and rules of airside, terminal building and landside are also discussed.Based on the operation mode of"Alliance under One Roof",T2 alternative scenarios are raised after calculation and review of passengers volume of different airlines. Furthermore, forecast parameters of passenger volume, peak hour passengers and aircraft movements are discussed.Through case study, the paper discusses the airport operations problems and analyse the master plan, airside layout, terminal functions, passenger flows and landside planning of T2, by planning aviation business volume and refine aviation forecasts. North Apron Options, a set of new options is presented and compared with the original Split Apron Options.Through analyses, North Apron Options prevail.
