Abstract/Summary:
In the knowledge economy era, for how to promote organizational knowledge sharing, managers have been seeking organization forms of encourage learning, development capacity and management knowledge. The early attempts based on various technologies encountered difficulties, which allow the researchers to pay attention to the social and cultural attributes of the knowledge. At present, the theory of social network and communities of practice, which integrate social and cultural attributes, has become a new hot spot. Social network and communities of practice as a knowledge-based organization forms support organizational learning and knowledge sharing.This paper, taking communities of practice as the research object, from the new social networks perspective, gives a qualitative and quantitative research on knowledge-sharing in communities of practice. Through a series of procedures and methods of the theoretical interpretation, modeling, case studies, social network analysis, and integrated use of MATLAB, UCINET and other analysis software, in order to be able to help on how to nurture knowledge-sharing community networks to provide valuable reference, this paper deeply analyzes knowledge-sharing mechanism in communities of practice, addresses how to use social network analysis to analyze the knowledge-sharing in communities of practice and explores network structure of the communities of practice how to influence knowledge-sharing.In the function of knowledge-sharing communities of practice analysis, we found the organization of communities of practice can promote organizational learning and communication, achieve knowledge sharing across borders, expand social capital of knowledge sharing, hatch knowledge innovation, and then improve organizational performance. Finally, the paper proposes the ways how to manage communities of practice.Through the modeling and simulation analysis the process of knowledge sharing in communities of practice, the paper reached the following conclusion: processing speed problems and the growth rate of knowledge members reach the maximum value at the same time in communities of practice; increase the capacity efficiency of community members and the efficiency of knowledge sharing can reduce the cycle of the mission to complete in communities of practice; improving the efficiency of knowledge sharing can more accelerate the progress of the mission and better the result of knowledge sharing than improving capability efficiency, these findings greatly enlighten managers of the project team.In the case study, using social network analysis theory and method, this paper analyzes the station of knowledge-sharing in communities of practice to visualize the path of knowledge sharing. We found: trust network between consulting network and advisory network between emotion network are positively related, it shows that establish trust and emotion can effectively promote knowledge sharing in communities of practice; higher density with high social capital can promote knowledge sharing; condensation subgroup analysis can find small groups in the network; degree centrality analysis can find the key figures and members who contribute small to knowledge-sharing; the middle center analysis can find members who control the flow of knowledge; the role of analysis can visualize members to play various roles in the knowledge-sharing community. Finally, this paper proposes management enlightenment of communities networks in favor of knowledge-sharing.
