With increasing competition in the publication area, how to improve the competitiveness of the publishing house, especially how to effectively organize and manage book publishing , how to effectively control and improve the quality of books, how to effectively control and save the cost of books, etc., it has become increasingly great concern and attention of Chongqing University Press(CQUP).And strengthening the research and practice of production and operations management, it is an important aspect to improve the market competitiveness of CQUP. This article outlines the general situation of CQUP, and focus on to made a thorough and detailed analysis for Current production and operations management of CQUP from the production organization and management, the production quality control and management, the production cost control and management. This think, although CQUP has made some experience and achievements in the production and operations management, but there are some very prominent problems on publishing bottlenecks, book inventories raising too fast and much, paper material inventory too large and so on, but these have now been seriously affected and restricted the further development of CQUP.In this paper, it made an in-depth and comprehensive analysis on the main production problems, and research by application of relevant production and operations management theories, and recommend the improvement program and suggestions of production and operations management for CQUP: it should actively research and improve the bottlenecks in the publishing process link, should actively strong control book stocks by application of economic production quantity model, should research and innovate publishing business process, and achieve zero inventory management of paper materials.
