A Study On Impact Of Intellectual Capital Upon Performance Of Hi-tech Enterprise

With the rapid development of economic globalization, intellectual capital has gradually replaced the traditional factors of production into a strategically important resources. Modern enterprises, especially information technology companies dependent more on intellectual capital development and management to create value. From the perspective of intellectual capital, this paper investigates the formation mechanism information technology of enterprise performance. This is not only a new exploration in theory, but also an important practical significance for guiding the development of China's information technology enterprises.The paper, with the relationship between intellectual capital and business performance of information technology as the main line, falls into five parts to elaborate on the theme.Chapter 1 is the introduction. It introduces the background, the objective and the significance of the study, describes the subjects, methods and innovation of the research, and explains the research ideas in structural chart. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, the paper, selecting information technology companies as subjects, makes a regression analysis of the relationship between intellectual capital and the performance of information technology enterprises. It indicates that the financial capital, human capital and the value-added abilities of the structural capital play an active role in improving the performance of the enterprises.Chapter 2 is the literature review. Firstly, it introduces the connotation and the concept of intellectual capital at home and abroad, and then puts forward the concept of intellectual capital in this paper. Secondly, it describes characteristics as well as the composition of intellectual capital and carries out a detailed review of intellectual capital measurement, paving the way for emperical study in this paper. Lastly, the paper focuses on the relationship between intellectual capital and corporate performance. In a word, the thesis, through the analysis of the relationship between intellectual capital and the performance of information technology enterprises, elaborates the impact of intellectual capital elements on information technology enterprise performance.Chapter 3 makes a theorital study on the effects of intellectual capital on enterprise performance, probing into the relationship between intellectual capital and enterprise performance from the perspective of resource-based theory, the new economic growth theory and the theory of enterprise governance.In Chapter 4, the paper makes an emperical study on the effect of intellectual capital on the performance of information technology enterprises. Datas from 2006 to 2008 of all listed companies meeting the requirements in the information technology industry of China are selected as samples, using indicators of the measuring methods in Chapter 2 to build the model. The paper, through the use of SPSS statistical software, conducts an empirical study of the relationship between intellectual capital and enterprise performance. The result indicates that human capital and structural capital have a different impact on business performance. The financial capital of the enterprises still palys a role in improving their performance in China's information technology enterprises.Chapter 5 draws the conclusion and indicates the prospect of the study. It summarizes the process.of the empirical research, pointing out the significance of the.study and the existing shortcomings as well as the directions of further research.The main contribution of this research is shown as bellow:Firstly, based on related literature review, the study re-defined intellectual capital. Secondly, the paper selects datas from listed companies in the information technology industry of China as samples. With a combination of theorital and empirical methods, the paper measures intellectual capital through the use of VAIC, so as to make a combination of the theoretical measuring methods and the practical application of the sample datas in doing empirical research.For the limit of time and condition, the empirical research just analyzes datas of listed companies in information technology from 2006 to 2008. The sample, being relatively simple, may affect the explanatory power of the empirical results. Since the 1980s, intellectual capital has become the focus of international academic research and media, academic conferences, monographs and research thesises on intellectual capital have sprung up. It is believed that more and more relevant empirical studies will emerge, and the research findings will be more valuable in the future.
