With the rapid development of economy in Guangdong Province, the problem of water resources has becoming the important issue which constraints the sustainable development of economy and society in Guangdong Province. Therefore, it's an urgent thing on studying the relationship and trend between economic growth and water resources, to ensure sustainable economic development and sustainable utilization of water resources in Guangdong Province.This paper reviewed the theory and factors of economic growth, water resources, environmental Kuznets curve (EKC). On research of the historical data, this paper using econometric models to analyze long-term relationship and trend between economic growth and water resources in Guangdong Province. The result showed that water efficiency increased with economic growth gradually, except low efficiency of agricultural water, and the relationship between water pollution and per capita GDP was more complicated, just can't be described as EKC curve. Water pollution is the serious problem in Guangdong province,and the EKC does't reflect influence on external agency factors, such as industrial structure, demographic factors and so on, so it's necessary to use an econometric model to analysis influence of the EKC external factors on economic growth and water pollution. The result showed that exports promoted economic growth and increased water pollution; The industrial structure promoted economic growth and reduced the industrial COD emissions, but had little effect on industrial wastewater emissions; Technological promoted economic growth and reduced industrial COD emissions,but increase industrial wastewater emissions. Demographic factors promoted economic growth and increased the industrial wastewater emissions. Because the impacts on industrial structure and technological progress showed instability, it's necessary to analyze dynamic relationship between the two facters and water pollution. The result showed that: with the increase of the second structure, Industrial wastewater emissions showed the trend of upward-downward-upward; with the increase of the third structure, industrial COD emissions showed the trend of upward-downward; industrial waste water emissions showed the trend of upward-downward and industrial COD emissions showed the trend of gradual downward with technological progress. Finally, According to the analysis, the paper proposed the measures to coordination of relations between economy and water resources in Guangdong Province.
