As China's telecom industry has once again restructured, forming a three full-service telecom operators, telecom market competition is more intense. At this stage, for China Unicom, the fixed-line business and mobile services are in integration stage, opportunities and threats exist. In this paper, the use of SWOT analysis on China's northern rural areas of telecom business development study to identify the rural market in the north of China Unicom to develop its telecommunications business with all the strengths and weaknesses and put forward development proposals in the hope that China Unicom, the rural market in the development of the North to provide some reference.Paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter briefly communications market in northern China and characteristics of the overall situation. ChapterⅡreference to foreign telecom operators and mobile service convergence fixed-line business development experience. ChapterⅢof China Unicom, for example, analysis of the northern rural areas of telecommunications market characteristics, circumstances and problems.
