The Dong people who live in Hunan, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces at the junction, due to remoteness and inconvenient transportation, still retain a more strong traditional culture for a long history in the closed state. Special natural environment, socio-economic and cultural systems have breded rich ethnic characteristics of the local form of love, marriage rituals and marriage customs. For a long time, the academic study of love and marriage on the Dong focused largely on practices in various forms of love, marriage ceremony process and analyses whose historical origins and their significance of ancient civilization, expounding to the culture of national Love and Marriage what is at rest more. With the development of society, all aspects of the Dong area have undergone tremendous changes, whose traditional marriage customs inevitably is going to be changed. And scholars on the marriage customs of the Dong's study, on the Changes in marriage customs less attention. In addition, few researchers pay attention to traditional marriage customs of the Dong's intermarriage rules, in particular the hierarchal marriage of Dong community and their marriage values which are contained by the back of it, such is right the starting point of this study.In this study, Dudong Township Sanjiang Dong autonomous county at the junction of Hunan, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces as inspection point, through field work, deep into the Dong people lives, live under the same roof and eat at the same table. Using emic and etic perspective, the author observed carefully the Dong people's lives and selected the object at all levels of society to carry out the depth interviews to gather first-hand information, and combined with the historical literature to discuss the characteristics of the local Dong marriage customs. In traditional society, Dong young men and women are free to love, but marriage is not independent, marriage must be strictly complied with marriage regulation as the shackles of marriage such as nation inner marriage, hierarchal marriage and clansman exogamy and so on, it is not like the image of free marriage in people's mind. These marriage rules regulate the marriage order of Dong area for a long-term, and limits the range of ethnic groups intermarry, being passed down from generation to generation and accumulated in the nation's cultural psychology. Changes in contemporary society the context of the reform, although the Dudong town local inevitable experiencing the impact of foreign culture, traditional marriage customs are taking place changes, but the traditional marriage customs, marriage rules, the concept of marriage are still showing strong vitality on local people to have a greater impact.Taking Dudong town as a case study, this paper links history with reality, describes the forms of traditional marriage Dong and a special"looks at'Deng'getting married"marriage criteria as well as the general situation of the intermarriage circle in the local Dong area. Further, analyzes and summarizes the various factors which affect the formation of the unique marriage customs, the various changes and their cultural connotation, and investigates the reflection of the cultural psychology and the conflict and reconciliation between traditional marriage customs and the modern notion of marriage under the impact of external culture in the modern society. Hope that by investing and discussing the local marriage customs of the Dong, to provide additional benefit for further study of Dong culture, but also a reference for our understanding of the Dong culture and explore the cultural identity. |
