Abstract/Summary:
Urbanization is very important component for China's modernization process in the twenty first century and also is the key point in a variety of structural contradictions of China's economic and social development. How to better and faster quicken China's urbanization process has become a principal approach to solve developing problems in a development way for a comparatively long period. It is impossible to guide urbanization development in different regions with a uniform pattern owing the fact that Gansu urbanization level is backward and regional different is great. Therefore, it is of realistic importance to research the present situation of Gansu urbanization and make strategic choice in accordance with actual state of different regions.This paper divides into five parts except conclusion. The first part is an introduction. The second part generalizes universal theories to supply theoretical support to the paper. After reviewing Gansu urbanization process the third part compares the general situations of Gansu with ones of the whole country as well as the other regions and analyzes present situation, advantageous conditions and restricting factors of Gansu's urbanization development. By establishing a set of index system for comprehensive evaluation of urbanization level, the fourth part makes Principal Component Analysis to the urbanization level of prefectures and cities of Gansu and makes clustering analysis on this basis, thus making overall quantity and quality comprehension of the urbanization level and clearly analyzing urbanization development situation of different regions. Part five part combines theory with actual problem on the basis of analysis conclusion available, and makes strategic choice to the urbanization of different regions of Gansu and supplies references to urbanization practice.
