Smart Grid is one of the future development goals of China Power Grid, the power generation system will also develop toward intelligent power system in order to comply with the smart grid, and ultimately realize its sustainability. Sustainable development is to achieve coordinated development, and smart grid environment. Coordinated development is the basement of sustainable development, and the coordinated development of power generation system in the environment of smart grid has a new connotation. The characteristics of the power generation system under the smart grid environment were analyzed, and then the meaning of its coordinated development is proposed. The evaluation index system to evaluate the level of coordinated development was then proposed, which can be divided into internal and external indexes system and is a complex multi-level evaluation index system. Finally the support vector machine method (SVM) is used to evaluate the system. The result of the case analysis shows that the paper provides an effective evaluation index system for the generation system to identify its coordinated development level.
